This project invited talented artists to collaborate with us by creating the branding for one of our strains, allowing them the freedom to choose a strain that resonates with their artistic vision. We are thrilled to introduce Kelsey Engler, the winning artist whose design will represent our latest release, Pure Michigan.
Roaring Pure Power: The Inspiration Behind Pure Michigan
Pure Michigan is a limited edition strain crafted to embody the strength and natural beauty of Michigan’s wilderness, symbolized by the state’s iconic black bear. Known for its power and adaptability, the black bear represents the resilience of nature—a perfect metaphor for the bold, robust experience that Pure Michigan offers.
When given the opportunity to choose which strain to brand, Kelsey Engler was immediately drawn to Pure Michigan. Kelsey explained, “I chose the ‘Pure Michigan’ strain because I have recently discovered that Michigan’s black bear population is increasingly growing, and I think the tribal bear will be a great artistic story and mesh with the product!”
This inspiration led to the creation of a stunning tribal bear design that not only captures the essence of the strain but also tells a compelling story about strength, growth, and the connection between nature and art.
Kelsey Engler: The Artist Behind the Roar
Kelsey Engler is a passionate advocate for animals both in the clinic and on the canvas, Kelsey seamlessly intertwines her career in Veterinary Medicine and as a well-known scratchboard artist. With a heart dedicated to the well-being of animals, she channels her love for creatures great and small into her artwork, creating intricate scratchboard pieces for lost patents and owners. Pressing the limits of imagination, her tribal and detailed works have landed her awards and honors for her craft. This talented LGBTQ+ artist has made a significant impact on the art scene, earning recognition as a three-time winner of the prestigious Del Mar Fine
Art Contest. Their dynamic work has also been featured at San Diego Pride, Vice President of San Diego Art Committee, art curator and event planner highlighting their role as a prominent figure in the LGBTQ+ community. With a passion for blending creativity and activism, the artist has showcased their work at various events, including CRSSD Fest, where their unique graphic design skills shine. Their work continues to inspire and resonate, making them a celebrated figure in both the art and LGBTQ+ communities.
For the Pure Michigan project, Kelsey’s inspiration came from the growing population of Michigan’s black bears and the power these animals represent. The result is a stunning tribal bear design that perfectly encapsulates the essence of the strain—bold, powerful, and deeply connected to the natural world.
